SaveResume ("we," "us," or "our") provides a free online resume and cover letter editor at saveresume.com, with optional paid PDF and DOCX export through a SaveResume Pro subscription. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
- Name and email address, when you create an account or sign in with Google.
- A securely hashed password, if you register with email and password instead of Google. We never store your password in plain text, and we cannot see it ourselves.
Resume and cover letter content
Whatever you type into a resume or cover letter template — including your name, contact details, work history, and any other content you add — is saved so you can return to your draft later. This content is stored in your account and is not published publicly or shared with other users.
Payment information
SaveResume Pro subscriptions are processed by PayPal. We do not collect or store your full card or bank account details ourselves — that information is handled directly by PayPal under its own privacy policy. We do receive and store limited subscription details from PayPal, such as your subscription status, plan, and renewal dates, so we can manage your access to Pro features.
Usage and analytics data
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how visitors use the site and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. These tools may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages visited, general location (derived from IP address, which we anonymize), device and browser type, and referral source.
How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account, and to save your resume and cover letter drafts.
- To process SaveResume Pro subscriptions and manage billing through PayPal.
- To communicate with you about your account, such as password resets or important service updates.
- To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the product.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Cookies
SaveResume uses cookies for essential functions (like keeping you signed in) and for analytics and advertising measurement (Google Analytics and Google Ads). You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking non-essential cookies will not prevent you from using the resume editor, but may limit our ability to measure how the site is used.
Data sharing
We share information only with the service providers that help us run SaveResume, including PayPal (payment processing), Google (sign-in, analytics, and advertising), and our hosting provider. These providers process data on our behalf and under their own privacy and security obligations. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SaveResume, our users, or others.
Data retention
We retain your account and resume content for as long as your account remains active, so your drafts are there when you come back. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at the email below and we will process your request.
Your choices
- You can edit your account details or delete your resume content at any time while signed in.
- You can cancel your SaveResume Pro subscription at any time from your account page; cancelling stops future billing but does not automatically delete your account or content.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
Children's privacy
SaveResume is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
